About:
Amidst high expectations,Vishal's straight telugu flick Salute released with 750 prints.
Story:
The story is simple : A sincere cop who wants to to do good for the society without moving out of his powers + sincere cop gets suspended + cop takes revenge against politicians(evils).
Analysis:
There were many hopes pinned on this movie mainly because of these :
1. The director was a journalist who interviewed Veerappan for a week.
2. The huge budget incurred on this movie.
3. Publicity budget which was around 2 crores.
4. Nayanatara and Vishal's crazy combination.
With so many expecations I entered theater waiting for an racu thriller only to find the director dishing out a big dud.
The director made the first half with some supposedly comic scenes ala Tom and Jerry and failed to evoke laughter, mother sentiment, romance between the lead pair and a shocking villain in form of Upendra.
The screenplay is so lagging that we feel the only important scene in the first half is the Interval block.
Confused director:
The director was clearly confused with the story line that he ended the character of Upendra whom he presented very well in the first half and a brilliant confrontation scene with Vishal in second half. This confusion arised due to the fact that he wanted to show police in good light.
Hah,he got clearly confused with the way a sincere police officer like Upendra gets into crime by eliminating rogues who enter politics. He showed convincingly why Upendra got into crime but failed to address why vishal still believes in police and how he fights against evil.
He just managed Vishal to go bald and made him give a 15 minute lecture on why evil should be fought only with legal means and not by taking power to wrong hands.
Postive Points:
1. Vishal to some extent . His action in fights was god,he had a great physique.
2. The real plus of this movie is Upendra who enjoyed great appalause from the audience even for his mannerisms.
3. kota villany
Negative Points :
1. Story
2. Screenplay
3. Music
The Biggest Negative Point:
There was major emphasis on publicising the fact that this was a staright telugu flick.Hah,why the hell do you want to do that when the entire film is fully Arava except patches done in telugu like having Ali character and Brahmanandam character and having chiru's poster in background.
It appears as if Telugu characters were placed just for the sake of nativity and horrible dubbing.
Goofs:
It takes a day to write about goofs on this movie, better don't even waste your time reading anything on this movie.
Final point :
The director sketched out a cop story with the intent of giving a positive message to the cops but contradicted with himself and especially irritates audience with such a pathetic screenplay and you feel really celebrating Independence Day after watching this movie.
There are so many things better to do than watching this movie.
Please skip this movie.
